Indiana man’s donation of kidney to a friend will be 1st surgery in state to be Twittercast

This week, the two will undergo a donor kidney transplant at @IU_Health.

The procedure itself isn’t unusual. Indiana University Health transplant surgeons perform about 200 to 250 kidney transplants a year. About half of those involve living donors, many of whom are the recipient’s friend or relative.

What sets Wednesday’s surgery apart is that anyone can follow the three- to four-hour procedure on Twitter, using the hash tag #calebskidney. It will be Indiana’s first Twittercast surgery, hospital officials said. READ MORE>>
